 With the help of a tremendous faculty and an exceptional College Counseling Office, the 109 students in TASIS The American School in Switzerland\u2019s Class of 2020 were successful in gaining admission to 164 universities and colleges in 14 nations, with 66 offers extended by schools ranked in the top 100 of the Times Higher Education 2019\u20132020 World University Rankings.<\/header>\n

The list of high-ranking institutions that accepted at least one TASIS student includes University of Cambridge (ranked #3), Imperial College London (#10), University College London (#15), University of California, Los Angeles (#17), University of Toronto (#18), University of Washington (#26), New York University (#29), University of Edinburgh (#30), University of California, San Diego (#31), University of British Columbia (#34), and King\u2019s College London (#36).<\/p>\n

In addition, the many talented artists in the Class of 2020 earned quite a few offers from renowned art schools around the world, including The New School, Parsons School of Design (both New York and Paris); Central St Martins – University of the Arts London; London College of Fashion – University of the Arts London; London College of Communication – University of the Arts London; Goldsmiths, University of London; and Savannah College of Art and Design.<\/p>\n

In all, TASIS students were accepted to 96 schools in North America, 37 in the United Kingdom, and 31 from other nations around the world, including Australia, Austria, China, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain, and Switzerland. The TASIS Advantage
\nThe three counselors who lead the TASIS College Counseling Office\u2014Director of University and College Counseling Greg Birk, UK College Counselor and IB Coordinator Howard Stickley, and College Counselor Carroll Birk\u2014combine for more than 100 years of experience in education, and through the years they’ve built countless relationships with college admissions officers around the world. When these admissions officers are asked how they regard candidates from TASIS, a common theme emerges time and again: they hold the School’s mission and internationalism in high regard.<\/p>\n

With a student body comprising nearly 60 nationalities, an extensive Academic Travel Program, a pioneering Global Service Program, and a mission to instill the values of personal responsibility, civility, compassion, justice, and truth, TASIS produces well-balanced students who are cultured, intrepid, and socially conscious. This built-in advantage, combined with a rigorous academic program that allows students to pursue an International Baccalaureate Diploma or take a wide range of Advanced Placement courses, is the bedrock from which TASIS students pursue their post-secondary goals.<\/p>\n

Motivated students build upon this foundation by demonstrating an impressive commitment to a combination of visual and performing arts, athletics, local and global service, and leadership positions on and off campus. They take advantage of the opportunities provided by a school that does not forget its Founder’s simple but timeless advice: “Fill all their waking hours with commitment to study, sports, the arts, and responsibility to others. Instruct\u2014stretch them in all areas.”<\/p>\n
