No Reino Unido, por exemplo, pesquisas descobriram que&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/education\/primaryeducation\/9146011\/Half-of-children-find-science-and-maths-too-difficult-or-too-boring.html\">metade das crian\u00e7as acha as disciplinas muito dif\u00edceis e muito chatas<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c9 um mito que os professores da Aiglon est\u00e3o trabalhando para dissipar. \u201cNosso objetivo n\u00e3o \u00e9 apenas colocar em pr\u00e1tica os fundamentos matem\u00e1ticos\u201d, explica Peter Bromfield, Chefe de Matem\u00e1tica do Aiglon College. \u201c\u00c9 nos livrar dos equ\u00edvocos que algumas crian\u00e7as t\u00eam, onde elas acham que n\u00e3o s\u00e3o boas em matem\u00e1tica ou ci\u00eancias, e ajud\u00e1-las a se sentirem confiantes e felizes em suas aulas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aprendizagem pr\u00e1tica<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para atingir isso, comece tornando o assunto o mais pr\u00e1tico poss\u00edvel \u2013 literalmente, em alguns casos. \u201cTemos um projeto chamado M\u00e3os de Gigante, onde damos aos alunos uma fotoc\u00f3pia grande da minha m\u00e3o e os encarregamos de criar um modelo em tamanho real de qu\u00e3o grande essa pessoa seria\u201d, diz o Sr. Bromfield. O projeto pode ser divertido, mas tamb\u00e9m exige que os alunos se baseiem em muitas das coisas que est\u00e3o aprendendo. \u201cEles est\u00e3o usando conceitos matem\u00e1ticos como raz\u00f5es e proporcionalidade, e habilidades estat\u00edsticas como coleta, interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o e apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o de dados.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Os projetos tamb\u00e9m permitem que os alunos explorem o assunto criativamente e sejam guiados por seus pr\u00f3prios interesses. \u201cUm projeto recente era sobre identificar padr\u00f5es e sequ\u00eancias\u201d, lembra Rona Watson, vice-diretora de matem\u00e1tica do Aiglon College. \u201cUm aluno foi embora e abordou o problema usando instru\u00e7\u00f5es &#039;se&#039; em uma planilha. Isso n\u00e3o era algo que est\u00e1vamos aprendendo, mas ele est\u00e1 t\u00e3o interessado nisso que o projeto permitiu que ele se esfor\u00e7asse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Essa abordagem pr\u00e1tica e pr\u00e1tica tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 fundamental para uma boa educa\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica \u2014 e algo que \u00e9 uma parte essencial da jornada cient\u00edfica de cada Aigloniano para se tornar um jovem cientista engajado que tem um alto desempenho em seus exames. \u201cSe voc\u00ea tivesse que sentar em uma sala de aula e me ouvir ensinar sobre termodin\u00e2mica por seis meses, provavelmente ficaria entediado\u201d, diz Andy Bowes Lyon, Chefe de Ci\u00eancia na Aiglon. \u201cEnt\u00e3o, em vez disso, a \u00eanfase real est\u00e1 no aprendizado experimental.\u201d Isso significa que quase todas as aulas de ci\u00eancias t\u00eam um elemento pr\u00e1tico. \u201cNosso cen\u00e1rio \u00fanico nos permite fazer astronomia em alta altitude nos Alpes; realizar trabalhos de biologia e ESS cercados por montanhas, pastagens alpinas e natureza intocada; e empreender projetos inovadores como o nosso sat\u00e9lite.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O projeto CubeSat \u00e9 uma nova iniciativa estudantil financiada gra\u00e7as \u00e0 filantropia da comunidade Aiglon que permitir\u00e1 que os alunos da Aiglon lancem seu pr\u00f3prio sat\u00e9lite em \u00f3rbita. \u00c9 um projeto fascinante e \u00fanico que exemplifica a abordagem experiencial da escola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O resultado dessa abordagem experiencial para o aprendizado s\u00e3o alunos que desenvolvem um amor intr\u00ednseco pelo assunto, algo que realmente brilha nos projetos cient\u00edficos pessoais. \u201cAl\u00e9m das atividades pr\u00e1ticas de rotina, todos os alunos do 12\u00ba ano t\u00eam uma semana reservada para conduzir seus pr\u00f3prios cursos cient\u00edficos individuais\u201d, diz o Sr. Bowes Lyon. \u201cDo vasto n\u00famero de investiga\u00e7\u00f5es que estamos apoiando, a amplitude v\u00ea aquelas que variam do efeito do som no crescimento das plantas; a uma an\u00e1lise de micropl\u00e1sticos encontrados na neve, \u00e0s caracter\u00edsticas de eleva\u00e7\u00e3o de diferentes se\u00e7\u00f5es de aerof\u00f3lio e muito, muito mais. Esses projetos exigiram equipamentos personalizados, tecnologia de an\u00e1lise qu\u00edmica de \u00faltima gera\u00e7\u00e3o, t\u00faneis de vento e mil outras provis\u00f5es para permitir que os alunos perseguissem suas paix\u00f5es. Alguns projetos fazem uma mudan\u00e7a real na vida desde o in\u00edcio \u2014 por exemplo, um aluno butan\u00eas em Aiglon investigou a resist\u00eancia \u00e0 flex\u00e3o de tijolos de barro compostos. As li\u00e7\u00f5es disso influenciar\u00e3o a escolha de materiais de constru\u00e7\u00e3o em aldeias remotas no But\u00e3o.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nos \u00faltimos anos, os projetos dos alunos t\u00eam sido de calibre t\u00e3o alto que foram inscritos em competi\u00e7\u00f5es internacionais. \u201cTodos os anos, os alunos competem em competi\u00e7\u00f5es STEM, como as olimp\u00edadas de ci\u00eancias. Tivemos alguns sucessos not\u00e1veis, com alunos selecionados para representar a Su\u00ed\u00e7a nas finais internacionais\u201d, diz o Sr. Bowes Lyon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Uma comunidade de apoio<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N\u00e3o importa o qu\u00e3o \u201cdiferentes\u201d alguns dos projetos possam parecer, a estrutura da Aiglon significa que os alunos t\u00eam o suporte necess\u00e1rio para persegui-los. \u201cTemos boas propor\u00e7\u00f5es aluno-professor, ent\u00e3o quando voc\u00ea tem algu\u00e9m que quer tentar algo hiperambicioso, n\u00f3s podemos realmente dar suporte a isso\u201d, explica o Sr. Bowes Lyon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tanto o departamento de matem\u00e1tica quanto o de ci\u00eancias tamb\u00e9m puderam contar com a ajuda da rede mais ampla da Aiglon quando se trata de dar suporte aos alunos e garantir que eles prosperem nessas disciplinas. \u201cTivemos um aluno no ano passado que estava fazendo um projeto de emaranhamento que exigia que ele constru\u00edsse um laser especializado\u201d, lembra o Sr. Bowes Lyon. \u201cNo in\u00edcio do projeto, ele teve a chance de falar com o Professor Sir Tejinder Virdee, um pai de ex-aluno e ex-membro do Conselho de Administra\u00e7\u00e3o e uma figura importante no CERN. O Professor Virdee ent\u00e3o conectou o aluno com sua rede dentro da qual havia acad\u00eamicos que puderam aconselhar sobre como fazer o laser TEA que ele precisaria como parte de seu projeto.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mais perto de casa, o departamento de matem\u00e1tica tem facilitado conex\u00f5es semelhantes entre alunos mais jovens e mais velhos. \u201cTemos 10 alunos entrando no 13\u00ba ano que se inscreveram para fornecer orienta\u00e7\u00e3o em matem\u00e1tica para alunos do 11\u00ba ano que est\u00e3o procurando fazer o IGCSE de matem\u00e1tica adicional\u201d, diz o Sr. Bromfield. Como resultado, os alunos mais velhos poder\u00e3o desenvolver suas habilidades de orienta\u00e7\u00e3o \u2014 algo profundamente arraigado na cultura da Aiglon \u2014 e os alunos mais jovens ter\u00e3o a chance de se esfor\u00e7ar. \u201cIsso permitir\u00e1 que eles realmente se esforcem al\u00e9m do curr\u00edculo\u201d, ressalta o Sr. Bromfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/stage.swisslearning.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_0492-1.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12092\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stage.swisslearning.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_0492-1.webp 800w, https:\/\/stage.swisslearning.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_0492-1-300x225.webp 300w, https:\/\/stage.swisslearning.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_0492-1-768x576.webp 768w, https:\/\/stage.swisslearning.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_0492-1-16x12.webp 16w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Criando momentos &#039;Eureka!&#039;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al\u00e9m de fornecer suporte pr\u00e1tico, esses tipos de conex\u00f5es tamb\u00e9m est\u00e3o ajudando a dissipar outro mito antigo sobre ci\u00eancia e matem\u00e1tica: que elas n\u00e3o t\u00eam uso no mundo real fora da educa\u00e7\u00e3o formal. \u201c\u00c9 algo que voc\u00ea \u00e0s vezes ouve\u201d, diz o Sr. Bromfield. \u201cOs alunos podem dizer, quando \u00e9 que vamos precisar disso na vida real, senhor?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Claro, os pr\u00f3prios professores veem \u2014 e articulam aos alunos \u2014 o valor das disciplinas, mesmo para aqueles que n\u00e3o continuar\u00e3o estudando-as depois de deixarem Aiglon. \u201cNa f\u00edsica, fazemos muita modelagem. E essa modelagem matem\u00e1tica que usamos tem aplica\u00e7\u00e3o em neg\u00f3cios, economia, ci\u00eancias sociais e muitas outras\u201d, explica o Sr. Bowes Lyon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mas essas conex\u00f5es com a comunidade mais ampla da Aiglon ajudaram os alunos a ver isso na pr\u00e1tica. \u201cTivemos webinars com ex-alunos da Aiglon que se tornaram empreendedores de sucesso por conta de seu treinamento em qu\u00edmica, por exemplo, diz o Sr. Bowes Lyon. \u201cVoc\u00ea v\u00ea os alunos tendo esse tipo de momento &#039;Eureka!&#039;, onde eles de repente entendem &#039;\u00e9 aqui que a ci\u00eancia pode me levar.&#039;\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O ambiente em que os alunos aprendem tamb\u00e9m est\u00e1 ajudando a criar esses momentos de inspira\u00e7\u00e3o. O departamento de matem\u00e1tica, por exemplo, passou recentemente por uma reforma que criou um espa\u00e7o muito mais colegial que incentiva a participa\u00e7\u00e3o. \u201cTemos uma sala que tem uma grande&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Harkness_table\">Mesa Harkness<\/a>&nbsp;nele, outro que tem o formato de um donut, e h\u00e1 quadros brancos por todo lugar\u201d, explica o Dr. Watson. \u201cIsso realmente mudou a forma como os alunos participam. Algu\u00e9m que poderia ter hesitado em escrever algo por medo de errar n\u00e3o tem essas mesmas reservas agora, porque sabe que pode apagar tudo e come\u00e7ar de novo.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O Sr. Bromfield vivenciou algo semelhante neste novo ambiente de ensino. \u201cJ\u00e1 se foram os dias em que voc\u00ea tinha um professor parado na frente escrevendo perguntas em um quadro negro\u201d, ele diz. \u201cCom a configura\u00e7\u00e3o atual, os alunos conseguem ver uns aos outros e est\u00e3o prontos para se comunicar; isso os faz sentir que t\u00eam voz e cria um ambiente colaborativo.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante o ver\u00e3o de 2024, a Aiglon reformar\u00e1 um laborat\u00f3rio de ci\u00eancias de f\u00edsica e dois de biologia. A escola tem um total de oito laborat\u00f3rios de ci\u00eancias. A primeira fase de desenvolvimento viu os laborat\u00f3rios de qu\u00edmica totalmente reformados em 2023. A segunda fase atualizar\u00e1 os laborat\u00f3rios de f\u00edsica e biologia. At\u00e9 o outono de 2024, teremos sete laborat\u00f3rios de ensino totalmente modernizados, com uma vis\u00e3o de expandir ainda mais essa provis\u00e3o nos pr\u00f3ximos anos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>O trabalho duro compensa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Essa abordagem pr\u00e1tica e experiencial para ensinar matem\u00e1tica e ci\u00eancias est\u00e1 a mundos de dist\u00e2ncia do aprendizado mec\u00e2nico que muitos de n\u00f3s podemos associar \u00e0s disciplinas. Mas est\u00e1 diretamente alinhada com a filosofia educacional mais ampla da Aiglon e est\u00e1 dando frutos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Veja o exemplo da matem\u00e1tica avan\u00e7ada.
